January Community Update

I hope this message finds you relaxed and healthy after enjoying this Winter Break.

As we return to school on Thursday, January 6, 2022, we have been informed that the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has instructed Illinois school districts to continue following all COVID-19 protocols that were in place in their individual districts prior to Winter Break. We will immediately communicate and implement updated school-specific protocols when they are released by the IDPH.

Thanks to the collective efforts of our families and staff members, adhering to these protocols during the first half of this school year, we were able to keep our doors open to in-person instruction 100% of the time. This was an amazing feat and understand it took great effort from the entire District 142 family to make this happen.  We are urging families to keep students home who display COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. We thank you and ask again for your continued patience, understanding, and commitment to keeping District 142 schools open.

Another factor in keeping schools open at this time of year is snow, ice, and cold temperatures. Attached, is a guide for our families to help navigate these winter weather months.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Dr. Kristine Roth
Superintendent
