2022 Summer Learning

District 142 is committed to providing ongoing learning opportunities for students during the summer. We want students to have every chance to continue engaging in learning with the support of District 142 staff.

SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAM

This year, our summer learning program is available to all current students, grades PK-7. The program will last four weeks, from June 13 to July 7 and will be provided at no cost to district families. Staff will provide virtual content in the format of a weekly grade level appropriate choice board. This will allow families flexibility in completing lessons and activities. Students will be assigned a summer learning teacher who will be available for contact Monday thru Thursday of each week, with the exception of Monday, July 4. Additionally, the teacher will hold a weekly Zoom that the students should plan to attend, for direct student contact.

To sign up for the Summer Learning Program, visit: https://forms.gle/4YKAYE98N6TVKf52A

Fill out a participation form for each student that you would like to have participate in summer learning by Friday, May 20, 2022. Those students will be placed into grade level rosters and you will receive updates regarding summer learning information.

OUR KIDS READ 2022

We will also hold our annual “Our Kids Read” challenge. Through grade level reading goals, students have the opportunity to prevent summer slide and increase their reading capacity. We encourage all students, whether participating in our summer learning program or not, to join the summer reading challenge. Sign ups for the Our Kids Read challenge will be sent out the last week of May. If you have any questions about the “Our Kids Read” challenge, please reach out to Mr. Ryan Nagle, Assistant Principal of Hille Middle School.

STUDENT iPADS

The district WILL be collecting all student iPads at the end of the school year. Please be sure their district assigned iPad, district assigned charging brick and cord are returned on their assigned collection date, which will be communicated from the technology department. Students will be reassigned their district iPad when they return to school in the Fall. If your student signs up to participate in Summer Learning, they WILL be assigned an iPad for summer use.

Thank you again for all you have done to make this a successful school year. As always, if you need anything, never hesitate to reach out. We hope you have a wonderful summer!

Sincerely,

Liz Ehrhart
